Never Talk About An Ex Girlfriend
Never bring up your ex girlfriend unless a woman asks you about her. This is always a bad idea on so many levels, so I’m going to jump right in an tell you how you can stop talking about your ex with a new girl when you’re stuck in that situation.
Ex girlfriends are usually a bad topic choice for the conversation (especially with a woman you’ve just met) so you should try to avoid it as much as possible.
If however, you are stuck and must talk about your ex, say something nice about her and quickly change the subject to something better suited for the moment.
This can easily be done with a statement like this:
“My last girlfriend was cool, it just didn’t work out so we broke up just before New Years. I had a blast afterward, so it’s no big deal.”
It’s that simple.
If she continues to ask you questions about your previous relationships; always give her short, positive answers.
At all costs you should avoid talking negatively about the other girls you’ve dated because she’ll just think that you’re going to talk behind her back too if things don’t work out.
I know it’s hard not to ramble on about how crazy, controlling, selfish or annoying your ex was, especially if you have some good stories to tell.
Regardless, it’s never a good idea, so leave the past in the past where it belongs.
Another good line to use when she won’t stop talking about your ex girlfriend is this:
“She was cool, but not even close to you. I’d rather talk about our future than my past.”
That not only gets you out of a sticky situation, but makes her feel good at the same time.
The best way to make a new girl stop talking about your ex girlfriend or past relationships is to assure her that she is much better and has nothing to worry about.
